“Noticing is the beginning of consciousness. Until you notice your thoughts, they think you, and you have no choice about your actions.” - Alison Armstrong
WEEK THREE: IN THE WORKPLACE

questions for contemplation + discussion
Contemplate the ways in which you bring out the best in men. Contemplate the ways in which you may bring out the worst in men.
Notice what you think about men: what pops into your head? Mind your internal dialogue about men, keep a journal. (Homework from page 36)
Notice what is happening when you are angry, affronted, frustrated, confused, hurt, disappointed or baffled by men. (Homework from page 36)
“Noticing is the beginning of consciousness. Until you notice your thoughts, they think you, and you have no choice about your actions.” (p. 44)
Consider always asking permission: when giving advice, when offering help, when teaching someone or showing someone something.
How does permission change the energy exchange?
Do you expect men to be perfect? When they aren’t perfect, what is the explanation you consider/think to be true? Does this explanation have to do with any lack or condition about you?
Notice any ways in which you “punish” or emasculate men, notice all the ways in which men are punished or emasculated around you by other women. (Homework from page 57)
Notice the effect on men during and after the “punishment” or emasculation. (Homework from page 57)
Reflect on “the perfect person,” according to you; where does this notion come from?
Does assuming men have a good reason for everything they do change anything for you? If so, reflect on this.
Practice asking a man why he does things the way he does; and listen fully to his response.
